Vitalist’s New Version Is Now Available For All Accounts
October 14th, 2008 / 25 Comments
We have moved our newest version of Vitalist over to the vitalist.com domain. This version should now be accessible by all accounts. To setup your account with this new version:
- Make sure you have chosen a username in your current Vitalist account.
- Go to http://www.vitalist.com/v/register/ to register for the new version.
We will continue to offer our previous version for our users who would rather not upgrade to a new system right away. The “Sign-In” link at Vitalist.com will point to the new version, however, you can still access the previous version at http://my.vitalist.com. Most of our focus with new features and fixes will be directed toward the new version.
When registering your account to use the new version, you will also be set up on our new user forum. The new forums allow you to login with your regular Vitalist username, so you will not have to register separately.
All upgrades and downgrades will now be completed through this new version. If you have any questions or problems, please post them to our new forum or send us an email at support@vitalist.com.

Having just had to figure out how to do this, I would strongly recommend you put a link to this “how-to” blog post prominently on the top page and sign in page with some text like, “Current Users: Upgrade to the new Vitalist in 3 easy steps. Click here to find out how”.
I happened to look at the blog, but if I had not thought of looking here I would have been very frustrated.
I am a happy Vitalist user and would not want to see you losing users due to an opaque migration process.

We are working on adding better instructions to places where users may get lost or confused.
Thanks for the feedback.

Where are the release notes for new features, changes, etc.?
Thanks,
Nick

You will not find or be able to choose your username under the “Account” tab on the “Settings” webpage. Instead, you will be able to find and choose it under the “Info” tab.

Love it, looks and works great! So, when are we going to get an app for the Google phone?
Jacob
From Greg on November 3rd, 2008
For some reason when I just registered my old account and try to log in it says that the user name and password are not valid.
Is there a time delay between registration and making the account active?

Kudos on the new interface. Resolved a couple of my prior enhancement requests. Love it!

Do I just not see it or is there no longer a dashboard? Is there an equivalent or is that feature gone. Not really sure what to do without my dashboard. Thanks!
From Robert (Vitalist) on November 24th, 2008
Yes, we have taken out the dashboard in favor of Saved Searches which can give you any specific view you might want.
This way you can create a Search with all of the specific filters you would like, have the results grouped or limited, and save it for quick reference like the old dashboard.
You can also have this Saved Search be the first view that you are greeted with when you login, and also have this search emailed to you daily as a daily digest.
From Charlie on November 25th, 2008
Any way you can tell us the steps to take to use the saved searches to set up a dashboard like in the old version? For example, how do we have a list of ticklers/waiting items that are now due?
From Robert (Vitalist) on November 26th, 2008
Here is an example of the Search I use to get a quick reference on what is important in my account. Set:
- ‘Groupby’ to ‘List’
- click ‘Hide Empty’
- ‘Result’ to 10
This will give you the 10 most important items in each list. This search uses each lists sorting, so make sure you have your lists sorted how you usually like them (by date, priority, or manually).
From Charlie on December 1st, 2008
Thanks! But any way to have ticklers or waiting actions pop up when they become due on the same page?
Thanks!

Is there something I should do to have my reminders transfer to the new version or do I have to re-enter all of them on the new version?
From Patrick Flyn on December 18th, 2008
Appears that Firefox 3.0.5 and new Vitalist aren’t getting along. All I’m getting is a msg saying “Loading…”
Works fine in Safari so not the app itself it would seem.
From Robert (Vitalist) on December 18th, 2008
@Patrick
Please try clearing your cache and/or cookies in Firefox. Let us know at support@vitalist.com if that does no solve the problem.

Why cant we upload contacts???
From cjw on February 6th, 2009
hey, thanks for the info on vitalist! staying along with the GTD theme, do you know anything on Outlook Track-It? Does everyone use this? I just got it, and it’s amazing. It’s actually just a small toolbar that allows me to get reminders to follow up to emails. So amazing. I’m using it in 09!
From Bacarli on May 5th, 2009
You can upload contacts, Don. Just use the tab.
CJW – I used to use Outlook Track-It, before I started my new job. In my old job, i had a lot of important emails to follow up to, and this was GREAT. The plugin let me flag emails for followup reminders. A lot of people I know use it.

The migration to the new version is not working for me. After I go thru the register link above, it tells me that I’m successfully registered. When I click the link to login, it tells me that my username and password are invalid.
