Happy New Years and News about Vitalist’s Upcoming Update

January 2nd, 2008 / 11 Comments

We here at Vitalist hope everyone had a happy holiday season and would like to wish everyone a prosperous and productive new year. We thought that as everyone starts to settle down now after holidays and breaks, it would be a great time to announce our newest update to Vitalist.

For the past couple of months we have been working on a new version of Vitalist that represents a major overhaul in both the front-end UI and back-end code. Since our last major release, many features have been added or changed that have made the interface and interaction with Vitalist more complex than we would like. So with this release we are concentrating on simplifying and streamlining the Vitalist user-interface.

Here are some of the improvements that will be included with the update:

  • Improved UI
  • Speed Enhancements
  • Easier Batch Editing of Actions
  • Edit screens will be consolidated into one (fully functional quick-edit)
  • Improved Sharing - There will no longer be a ‘My Shares’ section, all shared items will be available from the main lists
  • Saved Searches - The ability to create a specific search/view and save it for quick and easy access later
  • SSL ability on iPhone version

We will be beta testing this update as we finish it’s development. If you would like to help us test the new version before we release it, please send us an email at beta@vitalist.com with the email you use for your Vitalist account. We are planning on starting the beta test on Monday of next week, and we will notify the testers when it is available.

Thanks and Have a Happy New Year!

When can we expect the update to hit the air?

Oh, I’m gonna have to kiss someone full on the mouth for the shared function appearing in my regular lists of actions…THAT ROCKS!!!

I have given up waiting for you to implement offline mode (i.e. google gears) and therefore am moving to remember the milk.

Recall that GTD is all about having your inbox with you at all times. There are so many times (i.e. on the tube, on on a plane) when I need to access my list but can’t.

I’ll keep an eye out to see if you ever implement this, and then I’ll be back.

Until then, Remember the milk it is (which i like a lot less than vitalist, but offline mode is a must have requirement for me)

I use a printer for offline mode, and make notes on the printout. I find that works better for meetings and the like.

For features I haven’t heard mentioned but are important to me:
    1. the ability to publish all the lists I want to paper in one go.
    2. meaningful urls so I can bookmark certain views- e.g. all my calls for a project.

The above list sounds great, but I’m surprised that it doesn’t include a project view.

    Thanks,
    Nick

Is there an ETA on this update?

  8. Robert (Vitalist)

We will be doing a “soft” release with this new update. When we feel it is ready, our users will have the option of moving to the new interface and system or staying with the current.

The update is still several weeks from being released.

I am a new customer, considering vitalist. Did the above mentioned update ever happen?

  10. Robert (Vitalist)

    @James
We are still working on the newest update and have added a few features in addition to the ones mentioned in the article. The update is currently being beta tested.

Great news. How can we volunteer for beta-testing? Haven’t used my account for awhile. Been waiting for shared-task functionality since it was promised last Summer. :-)
